Luxor Temple

The entrance to Luxor Temple, the first pylon. There used to be twin obelisks, until Muhammad Ali had the brilliant idea to cut one down and give it to the French. The twin now sits in Place de la Concorde, outside the Louvre in Paris.
Avenue of the Sphinxes. Close-up of a sphinx. Originally, this road would have gone all the way to Karnak, 1.5 miles away.
Apparently they still uncover a sphinx every so often when digging during new construction projects. Small statue outside the actual temple. Baboons lining the obelisk base.
Ramesses II head. The colonnade, leading from the Court of Ramesses II to the Court of Amenhotep. Faceless colossus.
Ramesses II colossus guarding the colonnade. Carvings on the side of the base. Hieroglyphs on the back of a colossus.
Abu al-Haggag Mosque, built on top of the temple structure. Local kids. Painting on one of the walls from a period when the temple served as a church.
Ramesses II close-up. The Court of Amenhotep. A section of the Court of Ramesses II.
A forest of columns. Colossus. Hassle free zone? I call bullshit.
