Um Qais

The Roman ruins of Um Qais. Conquered by Antiochus III the Great, ruler of the Seleucid empire, in 218 B.C. It was later destroyed in fighting, until Pompey restored it in 63 B.C.

Black & white stonework. Byzantine columns. A lot of the buildings were dismantled by locals for new construction later on.
